NIE Girona NIE, TIE and padró on the Onyar

Girona · Salt · Figueres · Costa Brava — NIE, TIE and padró

NIE Girona: the right police address and a cita previa that fits

In Girona the NIE number, the registration of EU citizens and the TIE card are listed at three different addresses of the same police brigade. Tell us your passport and your plans: we point you to the right door, go through the EX application and its fee form with you, and look for the cita previa alongside you.

14 guides along the Onyar

Find the house of your procedure

Passports of the EU on the first stretch, every other passport on the second, life in Girona on the third. Each house opens a guide: who it is for, the form, the fee, the police address and the cita previa.

Scroll along the river: every house is a guide.

This site is drawn from the houses that line the Onyar, each painted its own colour and each with its own door, because in Girona so much of the paperwork comes down to finding the right door.

EU, EEA and Swiss passports

  1. The NIE, alone or not

Settling here or only signing here? How the number reaches residents and non-residents, what the EX-15 asks, and the one Girona address that lists it: C/ Cristobal Grober 12.

  2. The EU registration certificate

For French, Dutch, German, Italian and every other European resident: form EX-18, the evidence that fits your life, and the régimen comunitario at C/ Rajolers 7.

  3. Cita previa in Girona

One booking system for the whole province: choosing Girona, then the trámite that decides the street, then reading the confirmation line by line.

  4. The tasa on form 790-012

Modelo 790 código 012: one State fee form for the number, the European certificate and the card. Where to generate it, which heading to tick, which copy to bring.

Other passports, the UK included

  1. Huellas for the TIE

Non-EU residents apply for their card at a fingerprint appointment with form EX-17. In the city, policia.es lists its issue at C/ Santa Eugènia 145; several towns of the province list it too.

  2. UK citizens after Brexit

British residents, newcomers and owners on the coast: the Withdrawal Agreement TIE, what to do with an old green certificate, and the visa that now comes first.

  3. Students in Girona

Coming to study at the university or another centre: the green certificate for Europeans, a student visa and then the TIE for everyone else, and staying another year.

  4. The non-lucrative route

Living in the province on your own means, without working: a consulate visa before the move, the TIE fingerprints after it.

  5. Card for relatives of Europeans

Married to, partnered with, or the child or parent of a European who lives here? Form EX-19, the proof of the family link, and where the booking sends you.

  6. Trips abroad: regreso

Leaving the country with a renewal under way, or before a first card is issued: the autorización de regreso, which Girona lists at C/ Cristobal Grober 12.

Living and settling in Girona

  1. Buying on the Costa Brava

A flat in Lloret, a farmhouse in the Empordà: the NIE each buyer needs before the notary, the non-resident route, and signing through a power of attorney.

  2. Working in Girona

A job in the city, a hotel season on the coast, a post at the university: the number your employer asks for, your afiliación to the Seguridad Social, and the permit that comes first if you are not European.

  3. Three police addresses in Girona

Cristobal Grober, Rajolers, Santa Eugènia: what policia.es lists at each door of the same brigade, their phones, the State office on Gran Via de Jaume I, and the units elsewhere in the province.

  4. The padró in Girona

Empadronament at the Ajuntament de Girona: the OAMR at Plaça del Vi and in the neighbourhoods, booking a cita prèvia, the papers, renewal, and services for newcomers.

Before the appointment

One police brigade, three addresses in town

Students at the university, families, remote workers, people who bought a house near the sea: newcomers settle in Girona (Gerona, in older Spanish usage) and across its province for very different reasons, and they come from every corner of Europe and beyond.

Each of them needs a NIE sooner or later, and in Girona that also means knowing which door to knock on. The number, the EU certificate and the TIE card each have their own police address. We work out the form, the fee and the appointment for your situation, and explain every Spanish and Catalan word on the way.

Extranjería in Girona

Extranjería Girona: three police doors and one State office

policia.es lists the same brigade at three Girona addresses: the NIE at C/ Cristobal Grober 12 (972 225 557), the only place in the province that lists its assignment; the registration of EU citizens at C/ Rajolers 7 (972 416 909); the issue of the TIE at C/ Santa Eugènia 145 (972 069 348), also listed in Figueres, Lloret de Mar, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, La Jonquera, Puigcerdà, Portbou and Camprodon. Decisions on permits come from the Oficina de Extranjería, Gran Via de Jaume I 17 (972 069 140), and, in Catalonia, first work authorisations go through the Generalitat. Your cita previa confirmation names the address for your booking.

No opening hours are published. Your cita previa confirmation names the address.

Buses towards the offices

TMG’s line pages name two bus stops on Gran Via de Jaume I (“Gran Via Jaume I - C. Nou” and “Gran Via Jaume I - Generalitat”, lines L1, L2, L5, L11 and L6) and stops of line L3 at crossings of Carrer de Santa Eugènia, without saying how close any is to the offices. No stop carries the name of Cristobal Grober or Rajolers, and policia.es gives no opening hours, so check the route from the street on your confirmation the evening before.

The padró at the Ajuntament

The padró, padrón in Spanish, is kept by the Ajuntament de Girona at its OAMR offices: the main one at Plaça del Vi 1 and six in the neighbourhoods, by cita prèvia at citaprevia.ubintia.com/girona or on 972 419 010. Every padró procedure is free. Non-EU residents without long-term residence renew their entry every two years; EU citizens and long-term residents confirm theirs after two or five years. Salt and Sarrià de Ter, right next door, keep their own.

How we work

Four spans from your passport to your appointment

Like the iron bridge over the Onyar, the crossing is short once each span is in place.

Inside the red iron Pont de les Peixateries Velles, the 1877 Eiffel bridge over the Onyar, at dusk: a tunnel of riveted, criss-crossed red girders lit by lamps, the rain-wet plank deck gleaming as it runs to the far end, and pale riverside buildings behind the lattice against a deep blue sky

Citizen of the EU, EEA or Switzerland

You may settle here freely. After three months here, you register on the EX-18 and receive the green certificate, your NIE printed on it.

The EU registration certificate
  1. A few lines from you

Your nationality, where in the province you live or will live, and what the number is for. Our reply names the procedure, the form, and the Girona address or provincial unit it points to.

  2. The papers, side by side

We complete the EX form with you, prepare the 790-012 under the right heading and list the evidence your case calls for. Every document is compared with the form before the day.

  3. Looking for a date

We watch the booking pages for Girona province around your timetable, then read the confirmation with you: the day, the hour and, above all, the street.

  4. Crossing the bridge

Before the appointment, a short note: the address, what to bring and in which order, the questions that may come up. After it, whatever follows: the card, the padró, the Social Security number or the notary.

British or any other passport

A visa or a granted permit comes first, then fingerprints for the TIE. British and settled here before 2021? Yours is the Withdrawal Agreement card.

When your plans go further than our part

Our work is the procedures and appointments of people settling in Girona and its province. Two independent private firms cover what lies beyond: one takes on a whole move to Spain, the other requests a NIE while you stay at home. Neither is part of the administration, and nor are we.

Questions about the NIE in Girona

Cita previa NIE Girona: how do I book it?

Online, on sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es, in the appointments section. Pick Girona as the province, then the trámite that fits your case, then a date that suits you. No fee is charged to book, and the confirmation gives the office: for a NIE on its own, C/ Cristobal Grober 12.

Extranjería Girona: which address handles what?

policia.es lists the NIE at C/ Cristobal Grober 12 (972 225 557), the registration of EU citizens at C/ Rajolers 7 (972 416 909) and the issue of the TIE at C/ Santa Eugènia 145 (972 069 348). The Oficina de Extranjería, Gran Via de Jaume I 17 (972 069 140), deals with residence authorisations; in Catalonia, first work authorisations go through the Generalitat.

Huellas TIE Girona: what do I take?

The EX-17 with your signature, your passport and its visa, a recent colour photo, proof that the Modelo 790 código 012 is paid, a padró volant and, when Spain granted your permit, the resolución.

Certificado de registro UE Girona: who needs it?

Any national of an EU country, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland living in Spain beyond three months. It is requested on form EX-18 with proof of work, means or studies and health cover; policia.es lists the procedure at C/ Rajolers 7.

Empadronamiento Girona: where is the padró done?

At the Ajuntament’s OAMR offices, not at any police address: the main one at Plaça del Vi 1, six more in the neighbourhoods. Book a cita prèvia at citaprevia.ubintia.com/girona or on 972 419 010, and bring the signed registration form, your identity document and the deed or rental contract.

Are you the police, the Generalitat or the Ajuntament?

None of them. We are an independent private service that prepares your procedure with you, and anything we prepare together could also be done by you alone, with no intermediary at all.
